'What Mortgage' magazine found HSBC to have charged less interest on a £70 000 loan over periods of two and ten years than any other national bank in the year 2001. Their service offers an interest rate guarantee and, whilst there is no pressure for the consumer to purchase insurance products from HSBC, there is often a discount or free period offered if they decide to do so. Interest is calculated daily.
The website is easy to navigate and offers plenty of useful information. There is a mortgage calculator which you can use to calculate how much you can afford to borrow and you can request brochures online for a variety of the products provided by HSBC.
